• Hand written colophon: “For Connie Marsh 1953-1974. April 3 disappearance from Pico Canyon. I never saw your cow pictures or the scene on your canvas the day in California you were abducted and brutally murdered. Sometime we will take back the night and the day and it will be safe for all women. You were young & talented – your life as your death will always be remembered.”18

Connie Marsh Memorial Print

From Women Making History: The Revolutionary Feminist Postcard Art of Helaine Victoria Press by Julia M. Allen and Jocelyn H. Cohen

  • On April 3, 1974, Connie Marsh, 21 year old Feminist Art Program student, had arisen early and left her dorm room at 6:00 a.m. in order to paint in nearby Pico Canyon. She disappeared, leaving behind her canvas and paints. Months later, it became clear that she had been abducted and murdered. Jocelyn Cohen created this memorial print. Printed letterpress on a thin Japanese paper using nine hand carved linoleum blocks and two engravings, the print required 11 press runs.
