From Women Making History: The Revolutionary Feminist Postcard Art of Helaine Victoria Press by Julia M. Allen and Jocelyn H. Cohen

  • The 7 ½” x 9” brochure folds to 3 ¾” x 9” in order to be a self-mailer or to go in a letter-size envelope. The brochure outlines the phases of the Postcard Archive project: first, collecting and cataloging; second, making available for public use; third, organizing a biographical file for each postcard plus supplemental information on the postcard artist and publisher. The press achieved most of these goals. The archive is now held in The Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America located at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Harvard University. The collection consists of 2 cartons, 1 file box, 2 card boxes plus 1 folio folder, and assorted other files and promotional material; an inventory of published cards and bookmarks; and approximately 5,000 original postcards collected by Helaine Victoria Press.
