- The front side of the 4 ¼” x 6” postcard invited the recipient to Helaine Victoria Press’s new office and to the opening on November 8, 1986 of the new Women’s History and Culture Shop in Bloomington, IN. The card announced: “THIS MONTH’S SPECIAL WOMEN’S HISTORY EXHIBIT, Spinsters, Suffragettes & Secretaries: The Stereotypical Image of Women on Early Postcards 1890-1940.” Printed letterpress in black with red decorative detail. Helaine Victoria Press’s collection of these early postcards and more is now held in Special Collections at Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University.
