Equal Rights Amendment poster

From Women Making History: The Revolutionary Feminist Postcard Art of Helaine Victoria Press by Julia M. Allen and Jocelyn H. Cohen

  • The immensely popular 17” x 23” ERA poster went back to press over a dozen times. Jocelyn Cohen and Nancy Poore first printed the poster offset in black on ivory paper in the graphics lab at California Institute of the Arts. After that, for each press run they used whatever paper stock Helaine Victoria Press had on hand at the time. Most were shades of cream or ivory. The posters were difficult and expensive to mail, with the cost of the mailing tube exceeding the cost of printing the poster. 1000s were sold or donated. Sometime in the 1980s, Helaine Victoria Press reprinted the same poster in a smaller size, 11” x 17”.
