1976 Helaine Victoria Guide & Price List to Books, Summer Catalog, No. 2

From Women Making History: The Revolutionary Feminist Postcard Art of Helaine Victoria Press by Julia M. Allen and Jocelyn H. Cohen

  • September 1976, shortly after moving to Indiana, Jocelyn Cohen and Nancy Poore produced their second booklist “Helaine Victoria Guide and Price List to Books By and About Women No. 2, 1976,” listing 319 titles, all annotated. The 36-page catalog was hand typed and laid out to be printed on 8 ½” x 11” creamy ripple paper at a copy center. Cohen and Poore purchased a special stapler that could reach 5 ½” for stapling the center and then hand folded to an 8 ½” x 5 ½” size some 500 or so copies. This kind of non-mechanized work was typical for a day in the life at Helaine Victoria Press for Cohen and Poore. The cover was deep turquoise blue and still held the imprint Helaine Victoria Enterprises.
