Frances Perkins 1880-1965, First Day Cover, with stamp of Eleanor Roosevelt

From Women Making History: The Revolutionary Feminist Postcard Art of Helaine Victoria Press by Julia M. Allen and Jocelyn H. Cohen

  • Letterpress envelope printed for the first day issue of the Frances Perkins postage stamp, April 10, 1980. This first day cover was the last to be created and issued by Helaine Victoria Press, printers, designers, and dealers of memorabilia connected with women's history. It was printed on their hand-fed Chandler & Price letterpress, 1980, limited edition.
This particular FDC included the Eleanor Roosevelt 5¢ stamp from October 1, 1963. The descriptive, historical insert was the Frances Perkins postcard from the Bread & Roses series.
