From Women Making History: The Revolutionary Feminist Postcard Art of Helaine Victoria Press by Julia M. Allen and Jocelyn H. Cohen

  • To create the Folio, Jocelyn Cohen and Nancy Poore first sent it out to have the “Highlights from the History of Helaine Victoria Press” on the inside printed offset in black and copper on ivory laid cover paper, using a combination of text and small pictures. Then they printed the cover letterpress in black type with a large copper Columbia. They scored the sheet as well, so that it could be folded. The folio opens to 12” x 13” and folds to 10 ½” x 6 1/2”. They included a folded flap so that they could drop in postcard examples for special mailings or gifts. The Folio was repurposed in 1983 as a ten-year anniversary collector’s item, stuffed with a postcard or other ephemera for each of the ten years.
